The meaningful parts of the poem for our purposes are the last two lines. In the center of the shrine is a scroll with a poem that recalls the story of God of War and gives you the clues you need to unlock the shrine: That's not the Leviathan axe in the Shrine of Ash, unfortunately. Also buried in the birch tree is an axe, recalling both Kratos's actions at the start of the game to chop down those special trees, and the Leviathan axe that is his central weapon in the game.
